4s.6 The Amanda Todd project

In October 2012, Amanda Todd, aged 15, committed suicide after being cyberbullied. One month before she died, she had posted a video on YouTube where she used a series of flashcards to tell about her dramatic experience. Her video went viral after her death.

Amanda Todd's story got immediate international media attention and was a very late call to action against all types of bullying.

Words can hurt but they can also heal, inspire and motivate. I asked my 15-year-old students at IES La Moreria (Mislata, València, Spain) to film a video or create a comic strip - inspired by Amanda Todd's - using the power of words to recognize friends, acquaintances or complete strangers who gave them a helping hand when they needed it. Below you can find some of these videos.

The Amanda Todd project is not only a powerful statement against bullying but also a reminder that we sometimes forget to say "Thank you" or "You made my day" to the people that do good things for us.
